abold - communication expert with creative passion

THE FIRE HAS BEEN BURNING SINCE 1987
Since the founding our top priority has been to develop a sensitivity to the ideas and needs of our clients. With our creative passion we strive to fulfil their complex wishes.

Specialists in international brand development and communication strategies

Our broad spectrum of tasks, from the design stage to the implementation of national and international brand profiles, requires a sound knowledge of the business. We have 22 years of experience in bidding and implementation of mega events like FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010), UEFA EURO 2016 and Olympic Games (Leipzig 2012, Baku 2016 and Munich 2018). We support Federations, Host Cities, countries and companies.

We guarantee our clients strict cost control and transparency of all procedures. Our corporate governance is marked by experience in working with different cultures. We accept the rules and mentalities of the countries in which we operate.

The track record of our agency includes a wide range of commissions for corporate design, brand images and strategic concepts from the social, culture, tourism and sports sectors from Germany and abroad.

The agency is based in Munich. In June 2006 we opened offices in Johannesburg and Durban to support our South African clients.

The first milestone in our agency career was the social campaign "NO POWER TO DRUGS", designed and created by us in 1990 with the support of all German top sport acts. For the past 20 years this campaign has been the most successful anti-drug movement in Germany.

Another major milestone was our involvement in the bidding phase to host the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. We created a full service treatment for the German Football Federation (DFB) and the bidding team under the leadership of Franz Beckenbauer. Following the successful bid we designed the official FIFA World Cup 2006 emblem in close cooperation with Whitestone in London.

2005 another milestone followed. We were selected as the leading agency to create and manage the official "Service and Friendliness Campaign" for the National German Tourist Board (DZT) for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.

Our first "Olympic merits" we gained as we led Leipzig's national bidding campaign for the Summer Olympic Games 2012 to a successful ending. Thousands applauded when the bid team entered the stage on Leipzig's marketplace.

The win of the right to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup for South Africa in May 2004 marked our first international success milestone. With Madiba, Archbishop Tutu and former Premier Frederik De Klerk on our side we could present convincing arguments to the decision-making FIFA Executive Committee.

Of similar importance were the wins of the hosting rights for 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup for the German Football Association (October 2007) and for the FIFA Club World Cups 2009 and 2010 for the UAE Football Association (May 2008).

The gain of the hosting rights for the 59th UITP World Congress and Exhibition in 2007 marks a milestone, that shows that abold knows to bid outside the stadiums, too. With abold's help Dubai's Road and Transport Authority could bring this important event in its 2011 edition to the glamorous Gulf City.

In 2010 our experience in bidding for sports events was broadened in the field of football when we gave our support to the Turkish Football Federation in its bid to host the UEFA EURO 2016. Only one vote was missing to win, and the message was clear: Turkey is a contender to be reckoned with.

Germany is bidding to host the Ryder Cup 2018 according to the motto: "Emotions made in Germany". Applications, sports and emotions are topics in which abold has excelled since 1987. For this reason the agency is pleased to provide its ardent support in an advisory capacity to the bid to host the Ryder Cup 2018 in Germany.

The Mediterranean Games were first held in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1951. Currently abold is supporting and advising the National Sports Council of Egypt in its bid to host the 18th Mediterranean Games in 2017.

As well as we currently continue our success story by supporting the bid committees of Munich and Australia's Football Association in their approaches to gain the hosting rights for the prestigious world sport events Olympic Winter Games 2018 respectively 2022 FIFA World Cup.
